SEWING &KNITTING SUPPLIES AT SLIPCOVERS,ETC
In October 2009, I was able to acquire the sewing and knitting supply inventory from the former Country Charm Crafts. I felt there was a need to be able to source these items in Chester rather than have to drive a distance. Various types of yarn, pattern books, pillow forms and quilt batt are available. There is also a good selection of knitting needles and crochet hooks on display.
AS PROMISED, MORE PROJECTS
This chair is an example of an older, very comfortable piece of furniture getting a new updated look- stripes make a very strong statement.
NOT JUST SLIPCOVERS
This window treatment is cafe style curtains. The lightweight semi-sheer half panels provide privacy but allow light into the room. By hanging the panels from spring tension curtain rods, there is no need for hardware to be mounted on the window trim - allowing a very simple look.
WELCOME TO SLIPCOVERS, ETC
This is an elaborate table cover in two layers. The ruched ruffle at the hem of the underneath cover was quite a challenge as the cover was so large. The top cloth has an inset of the alternate fabric and then a binding added to the edge as you would see on a quilt.
This chaise was covered in white canvas to give it a "summer feel". It was a challenging project because of the extended front and the pleats all the way around the skirt.
This slipcover was made from outdoor fabric which is fade resistant and water repellant. It was used for the sofa slipcover in a summer rental property to provide durability.
This loveseat has been slipcovered using a Painter's Drop Cloth. The drop cloth was washed and dried to remove the sizing in the fabric and pre-shrink it. The look is very simple and the slipcover is very serviceable as it is fully washable and bleachable if stains occur. Also, drop cloths are very inexpensive.
I will profile other projects I have completed in future postings. I will be starting a new project in my shop and will feature the work progression on my blog. Please feel free to give me feedback on my postings and projects. I enjoy the work I am doing very much and am eager to share it with you. Bye for now......
